Before you begin the official design process, it is recommended that you complete a series of transformations with the Pre-Image to become familiar with the graphic that will be used in the official design.

Translate the Pre-Image 24 units to the right. Describe two strategies that you could use to determine the location of the new coordinates.

-
Now reflect both the Pre-Image and the Prime-Image over the x-axis. Describe the process you used to determine the location on the new coordinates for the Pre and Prime Images.

As you continue to familiarize yourself with the graphic, it is time to learn the dilation process. A dilation is where the polygon grows or shrinks but keeps the same overall shape. It's a little like zooming in or out on a camera.
Utilize the original coordinates to answer the following questions. You will want to replot the coordinates on a new four quadrant grid.
-
Calculate the area of the Pre-image. Show all your computation and explain the strategy utilized to determine your calculation.

-
The image that will be used for the website will be a dilation of the Pre-Image with a scale factor of 2. Dilate the original image (pre-image) using a scale factor of 2.

-
Construct a 30 degree counter clockwise rotation of the dilated image. Describe the strategy utilized to rotate the image.

-
Calculate the area of the Image after the dilation.

-
Explain what happened to the area of the new figure compared to the area of the original.

-
Are the images similar? Explain.
